22/12/2024- Jozini Local Municipality, under the leadership of His Worship, Mayor Cllr Mfananaye Mathe, has launched an initiative to support widows during the festive season. As part of this programme, widows received Christmas vouchers, redeemable at Spar Jozini for groceries, school stationery, and other essentials.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor Mathe highlighted the motivation behind this initiative. “The loss of a husband often leaves a significant void in families, especially during Christmas. This programme aims to provide relief and ensure that widows can celebrate the festive season without financial strain,” he said.
The pilot programme included 345 widows across Jozini’s wards and has proven to be a success. Going forward, the initiative will be incorporated into the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and rolled out on a larger scale annually.
Mayor Mathe expressed gratitude to all Jozini Councillors for this great program. He also assured the community that this programme would grow to reach more beneficiaries in the coming years.
