14 August 2025 – From today, the people of Jozini will no longer have to travel long distances to obtain their driving licences. Under the leadership of His Worship the Mayor, Cllr Nkosinathi Myeni, the Municipality has officially launched its upgraded Traffic and Licensing Centre, now fully equipped to produce driving licences for Code 08, Code 10, and Code 14.

Speaking at the official opening, His Worship congratulated the very first recipient of a driving licence produced at the centre, a young man from Ward 21, Mr. Lungani Mkhize, who is under the leadership of Her Worship, the Deputy Mayor, Cllr NR Zulu. Mr. Mkhize obtained his Code 10 licence, which will greatly improve his prospects for employment in industries that require licensed drivers.

The event was attended by key stakeholders in the transport sector, including representatives from driving schools, traffic police officials, and licensing authorities from neighbouring jurisdictions.

The success of this upgraded facility reflects the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to developing revenue-generating initiatives that enable self-sustainability while delivering essential services to the Jozini community.

The Traffic and Licensing Centre is located in Mkuze, eMlingo, and will operate Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:30. In addition to producing new driving licences, the centre offers services such as licence renewals, vehicle registration and ownership transfers, and learner’s licence bookings.
